An overhaul is the most common service for mechanical clocks and is recommended every five years. If a clock has stopped working and it has been longer than five years since its last cleaning, this is often the root cause. During inspection, we’ll advise on the best course of action. If replacement parts are required, you’ll be notified during service. All overhaul services include a one-year warranty.
Turnaround time:
Times can vary greatly but here are the most common timeframes: 4-6 weeks for most overhauls
If parts need to be ordered or fabricated:
8 -12 weeks
Mantel Clock Overhaul
Starting at $365.00
-
Typically spring-driven mechanical movements regulated by a small pendulum or balance wheel. Pricing depends on strike or chime complexity, mainspring condition, and overall wear, particularly on vintage or antique movements. Pendulums should be removed or secured before transport.
Wall Clock Overhaul
Starting at $325.00
-
Commonly spring- or weight-driven movements regulated by a pendulum. Service cost varies by movement size, number of trains, and age, with antique clocks sometimes requiring additional restoration work. Remove weights and pendulum prior to transport.
Cuckoo Clock Overhaul
Starting at $365.00
-
Weight-driven mechanical movements with pendulum regulation and chain-operated strike functions. Pricing is influenced by number of weights, music complications, and condition of bellows and movement. Weights and pendulum must be removed and chains secured for transport.
Anniversary Clock Overhaul
Starting at $385.00
-
Spring-driven movements regulated by a torsion pendulum using a delicate suspension spring. Pricing is affected by escapement wear and suspension spring condition. The pendulum must be locked or removed before transport to prevent damage.
Grandfather Clock Service
Starting at $700.00
-
Large, weight-driven movements with pendulum regulation and optional chime mechanisms. Due to their size and sensitivity, service typically requires two house calls for pickup and reinstallation of the movement. Pricing varies by movement complexity, chime type, and travel distance.
-
In-home service calls are also available for diagnosis, adjustment, or minor repairs when a full overhaul is not required – starting at $220.00.
Quartz Clock Repair
Starting at $85.00
-
Battery-powered movements regulated electronically. Service typically involves movement replacement rather than overhaul, with pricing based on movement type and hand configuration. For transport, protect hands and dials from pressure or bending.
